Although it came from before, when the Huawei P9 mounted a Dual camera a couple of years ago, the Chinese brand played the type with a design that ended up liking and also setting a precedent. A year later, the range stops seen in 2017 as the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or iPhone X have included. But in the Chinese market, the double sensor has become so common that many mid-range are included, although it is still a luxury element for the economic or entry range. Something that promises to export to the West with the latest creation of Samsung.
A double camera for cheap smartphones
With a Galaxy S9+ that will have a Dual sensor -although not the standard S9-, Samsung surprised just at the end of 2017 when it presented its Galaxy A8 and A8+ (2019), Premium mid-range models with elements as flashy as an infinite screen and a double frontal camera. Now it seems that the South Korean giant is taking the issue of double cameras very seriously since today announced Samsung ISOCELL Dual, a solution designed to implement double cameras in the mid-range and the economic range smartphones. The problem of integrating a double camera is that it forces the manufacturers to use more time in their development since they must organize with the sellers of camera components for the development of the sensors and the software algorithms. But what Samsung proposes is to deliver directly to the manufacturer all that, both hardware and software. ISOCELL Dual will make available these dual camera modules and software optimized for these sensors, which will accelerate their implementation and allow even smartphones of $100 to have a double camera on both rear and front.
All Galaxy smartphones with double sensors
Right now, the ISOCELL Dual project has a double camera with a sensor of 13-Megapixel and another of 5MP to integrate into mid-range smartphones, and a dual camera set with both 8MP lenses to mount them in mobile range of input. Although Samsung says that in the future it will offer more combinations to choose from. And we are talking about an element so far available to top of the range that we will see integrated as a standard since the idea that a mobile of economic range can take photos in portrait mode using a double front camera with functions for dark photos and Bokeh effect is really attractive. What seems certain is that from this year we will see all the Samsung Galaxy families, from the Note to the S, the J or the A will simply mount rear and/or front double cameras.
